A 68-year-old man presents with vertigo, dysphagia, dysarthria, and an unbalanced gait for 2 hours. These symptoms occurred abruptly. His medical and surgical histories are unremarkable. However, his last routine health screening was 10 years ago. His family history is unremarkable. There is no history of allergies. He has smoked heavily for many years, with a total burden of 35 pack-years. He consumes between 4 to 5 standard drinks each week. A full panel of bloodwork is sent for, with results pending. Capillary glucose levels are normal.
